I miss making you playlists for your disc drive, so I made you this. I know it’s not the same… but it’s the closest I can get. New mixtape monthly up on my spotify. This one starts and ends on a *fade - beginning with my favorite version of “Not Fade Away” (the Stones version), and ending with the iconic “Fade Into You,” by Mazzy Star. In the middle is one of my favorite gems with Robert Palmer’s “Johnny And Mary.” If you’re not a fan of 1980s sounds, then get past the synth sounds, and get into the songwriting. The melodies and lyrics are full of emotion, and so much real life in there.

Another hidden gem on this is Tobe Nwigwe’s “TRY JESUS,” which features one of my favorite lines - “Try Jesus, don’t try me, cuz I throw hands.” I love the sunny day feeling on “Everyone Is Golden,” and Cheap Trick’s “Surrender” feels good and reminds me of playing Tony Hawk as a kid.
