Mixtape 28
Mixtape 28
I miss making you playlists for your disc drive, so I made you this. I know it’s not the same… but it’s the closest I can get. New mixtape monthly up on my spotify. Find me there at @jawnmo, and if you’re not on spotify, track list included here for you to burn to a cd and put in your 1996 jeep wrangler and turn up the volume. Have a nice weekend out thereThis is a rare 10/10 playlist, from start to finish. I love how this one turned out.
Some of my favorite moments on here are the dropout in the middle of Chaka Khan’s “Like Sugar,” the rhythm of the vocals on “REEL IT IN,” and the lyrics in New Edition’s “I’m Leaving You Again.” Breaking up with a girl, the singer croons, “you have to understand, I’m in popular demand,” as though that would make the departure easier. I can never get over how much of a gem of a letdown that would be.
Here are some hidden gems you should definitely know about on here. “Mpodol” is a beautiful song by Cameroonian singer Blick Bassy. The entire album, 1958 is stunning. Burt Bacharach’s “South American Getaway,” from classic film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, is an incredible vocal arrangement.
I’m dropping in the music video from "Easy Lover,” because I love these sets, these styles, and most of all, this song.
