Nocturnes (limited) Exclusive Bandcamp Release

I’m posting a preview of the unreleased Nocturnes project here.

Nocturnes is a lyric driven set of songs that is very much at odds with Sad Disco’s bright maximalism. These stories take place at the edges of dreams, meant to live in the same world as Gabriel García Marquez’ short story Eyes of a Blue Dog (1950), and in the same starry atmosphere as Cole Porter’s 1948 ballad “So In Love,” a lyrical masterpiece best performed by Ella Fitzgerald:

So taunt me, and hurt me

Deceive me, desert me

I’m yours till I die

So in love with you am I. 

These songs are secrets I have kept, and you will be the first to hear many of them.

To be clear, this is not an official release. In my singular focus on getting Sad Disco done, I’ve had to set these songs aside for some time. They exist in a different cinematic universe from Sad Disco, so no matter how proud I am of the writing, the production, the dream worlds that have been conjured in the dwindling hours of the morning, these songs will need to keep sitting on a hard drive until Sad Disco has officially hit streaming services.

That said, I haven’t been able to stop listening to this collection. Even in its rough form, this preview contains some of the best writing I’ve ever done, and features collaborations with producers, session musicians, and songwriters whose body of work I am proud to be a part of. So as a thank you for being here, I want you to have these as they are today.

Now you and I can listen to the same dream that nobody else knows about.
