This ranks pretty high in my list of best playlists I’ve ever made. So many undeniable classics, and so many killer songs, old and new. Dijon’s “Many Times” is one of my all time favorites here, but looking down the tracklist, I can’t get mad about anything on here. I’m adding Dijon’s live video for “Absolutely,” which is the most singular live video I have seen in a long long time, from the performances to the sets. It is well worth putting on when you have time and can give it some attention. Check it out here, and keep an eye out for the hidden gems on this playlist below the video.

Here are some hidden gems I think you should now about on this playlist:

“Bite The Apple” by Rainbow Team is a funky disco track that I found out about while making this playlist. It has a lot of the best of the genre, including killer string arrangements. Other killer tracks in the genre include pretty much anything by L’Impératrice (“Peur des filles” is the featured track here) and “A Night to Remember” by Shalamar.

“Malas Amistades” by Vanessa Zamora is a beauty I found from a recommendation by Aaron Frazer, drummer for Durand Jones and the Indications.

And farther on the indie side, Alan Lili’s “Soft Plans” is a hidden gem I think everyone should know about. He is part of multi-cultural supergroup TuLengua, based in San Diego and Tijuana. Khadija Bonet’s “For You” is a great, vibey track as well, with lush reverb and harmonies.

PinkPantheress is a hyperpop artist who refuses to make a song longer than 3 minutes. More common are songs between 1 minute and 2:30. I like this approach - I think a lot of great songs do everything they need to in a short amount of time. Included on this playlist is her track “Just For Me.”
