Some truly dreamy songs on this playlist - “Les Fleurs,” by Minnie Ripperton, “Soft Sands” by the Chordettes, and surprisingly, a gorgeous song from Gorillaz that snuck under my radar back when the album Demon Days came out. It’s the title track, but seems like it never got the recognition that many of the singles on this record did. I heard it in a bar and, in spite of the fact I’ve listened to this album more times than I can count, I could not figure out how I knew it. This song has the most beautiful strings and build. I can’t get enough of it.

There’s some charming indie on here as well - “Oysters In My Pocket” by Royel Otis and “Beefcake” by AddyBaddy & PinkoFuss each have some lyrical moments that get me smiling whenever I put them on. Also featured on here is “Take It Off My Back,” the lead single from my former music collective, Swim Club. I wrote a piece about writing and producing that song, and if you’re interested in learning more about it, you can check it out here. It is still one of my favorite songs I’ve written and recorded.

“Sitting In The Corner” - Cuco, Adriel Favela, & Kacey Musgraves

I’m a big fan of this lesser-known Kacey Musgraves feature on “Sitting In The Corner.” It sees the singer venture into some more psychedelic rock territory, a place I love to see her.

“blood pareil” - comment debord

I love “blood pareil” by comment debord, as well, especially the way it fits next to the classic “Pitch The Baby,” off Cocteau Twins great album Heaven Or Las Vegas.

“Keep From Falling” - TOBi

This is a beautiful cinematic track, worth listening to when you’re in your feels.

“Reach Out” - Donny Benét

While I was making this, a friend introduced me to the music of Donny Benét, and it is very fun, very funky, and very strange. He leans into an old VHS aesthetic and a vibe that he is willing to lay it all on the line that is hard not to love. Check it out below.
